Depression Anatomy / 2022
This project is a deep introspection and a direct confrontation with an illness I have faced for years. Through a detailed exploration of elements such as stress, despair, anger, sadness, and the persistent feeling of being overwhelmed, I examine depression and anxiety, conditions that have accompanied me without a clear beginning or defined end. The purpose is to graphically shed light on a pathology that has long been underestimated, capturing on canvas the experience of those of us who battle it daily.

The nine pieces on display reflect fragments of my own experience, as well as the stories of people and patients I’ve had the chance to connect with. Beyond presenting a personal perspective, this project seeks to viscerally materialize the universal aspects of this illness.

It is worth noting that the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that over 280 million people worldwide are affected by depression and anxiety, with a significant number facing fatal outcomes. This silent, devastating disease spares no age or social condition. Through this exhibition, I hope to raise awareness and foster empathy for those of us living with these disorders, promoting a deeper understanding.
